A local parcel tax passed and a bond failed in recent special elections, according to the final results released by elections officials.
In Riverside County, voters approved Measure H, a parcel tax to fund the San Gorgonio Memorial Health Care District. The measure renews a tax that is set to expire July 1 – maintaining the rate of $60.52 per parcel annually, but without any end date. The tax, which costs property owners approximately $2.6 million per year, was approved with 71.49 percent of voters in support.
In Lake County, voters rejected Measure A, a bond placed on the ballot by the Kelseyville Fire Protection District. The measure called for a $4 million general obligation bond to fund construction of facilities including a fire station, and to pay for equipment and fire protection and suppression services. The bond would have been repaid via a tax of $121.75 per residential unit, $173.93 per acre of resort property, $86.97 per parcel of agricultural property, $173.93 per parcel of vacant property, and $347.86 per parcel of non-residential property. Measure A received just 46.53 percent of the vote.
