Potpourri:
California's Economy Drops in World Ranking

Jan Norman, the Orange County Register's small business columnist, writes: "If California were a separate country, it would have the world's 9th largest economy, reports the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation. Sounds good until you read that in 1984 and 1985, California had the 5th largest economy and with those two exceptions, it had the 7th largest economy since the 1970s until 2010, says Econpost.com. The ranking of 9th is included in the LAEDC's mid-year forecast, the '2012-2013 Mid-Year Economic Forecast and Economic Outlook.'" (Source: Orange County Register, July 25.)
