Groudan is New Cal-Tax Chair |

Richard L. Groudan, manager of tax accounting for Texaco, Inc., has been elected 2000 chair of the Board of Directors of the California Taxpayers' Association. Mr. Groudan has served on the Cal-Tax board for 17 years, including service on the association's executive committee. He succeeds James A. Henry, vice president of the J.G. Boswell Company. Founded in 1926, Cal-Tax is a statewide nonpartisan research and advocacy association. Its dual mission is to protect its members from unnecessary taxes and to promote efficient, quality government services. During 20 years with the oil and gas company, Mr. Groudan has held the positions of associate division manager and division manager as well as his current position in its western region tax department. The company has oil and gas operations in California and worldwide. Prior to joining Texaco, Mr. Groudan worked with Atlantic Richfield, Union Oil Company, IT&T and the Price Waterhouse accounting firm. He earned his bachelor of science degree in accounting from Bloomfield College in New Jersey and his business administration master's degree in accounting and taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, New Jersey. He is a member of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Tax Executives Institute; a vice president and member of the Los Angeles County Taxpayers Association Board of Directors, and past chair of the Western States Petroleum Association Tax Steering and Excise Tax Committees. He also serves on the tax committees of the California Manufacturers Association and the California Chamber of Commerce. Community service includes United Way fundraising coordinator in the Los Angeles chapter and American Heart Association solicitor. Mr. Groudan resides in Agoura Hills with his wife, Iris. They have three grown children, Dorie, Todd and Jill. |
