May 19 Election:
Cal-Tax Announces Positions on May Ballot Measures

The California Taxpayers' Association Board of Directors voted last week to take positions on three of the statewide measures that will appear on the May 19 ballot. In addition to the budget reform measure Proposition 1A, which the association previously endorsed, Cal-Tax supports:

·         Proposition 1D, to reallocate funds from the Proposition 10 tobacco tax, in order to use currently idle funds for medical programs that serve children.

·         Proposition 1E, to reallocate funds from the Proposition 63 income tax increase, in order to use currently idle funds for mental health programs that help children and young adults.

·         Proposition 1F, to prohibit state elected officials from being awarded with pay raises when the state government is running a deficit.

The Cal-Tax board voted not to take a position on Proposition 1B, which would earmark billions in state funds for education, or Proposition 1C, which would authorize the state to securitize and modernize the lottery.
